Welcome to paradise! There should be a sign saying at the entrance, because Strömsholm really is a paradise for both horses and horselovers.

When you arrive you see beautiful buildings that remind you of estates and castles, but a closer look reveals them to be stables and riding halls. And there are horses everywhere, a total of 220 four-legged friends at the centre.

Strömsholm is a modern Equestrian Centre with all the facilities you need. There are seven indoor schools, a number of outdoor arenas, a cross-country course and stables for approximately 220 horses, which encourages excellent training and competition possibilities. We can accommodate up to 200 people.

You will find a number of very able and experienced teachers. On the staff there are successful international riders with Olympic experience. The school horses are top quality Swedish warmblood, well trained for their tasks.

Strömsholm is located 20km west of Västerås and 130km west of Stockholm. Västerås has an international airport – Stockholm Vasteras (VST) – and you can reach Arlanda International Airport in approximately 1,5 hours.

COMPETITIONS

Within the grounds by the castle, situated in a beautiful setting, is the National Equestrian Arena. During June every year, Strömsholm hosts the annual, classical summer event at the arena, “Strömsholmstävlingen”.

The event dates back to the early 20th century and covers show jumping, dressage, eventing and driving by the old castle.

This is a perfect opportunity for the teachers and students from Ridskolan Strömsholm to practice their skills, and also an event none of the riders of the National team, inclucing Olympic, World and European medallists, will miss!

“Strömsholmstävlingen” is a folk festival for all visitors and usually attracts more than 10.000 visitors every year.

Apart from these events Ridskolan Strömsholm also holds a number of bigger and smaller competitions at different levels throughout the year.

EDUCATION

We educate riding instructors, coaches, youth leaders, grooms and officials to Swedish Equestrian Events, and also stable personnel and workriders for racing stables.

The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences bases the second year of riding instructors´ university diploma in Equine Studies at Strömsholm.

Future competitors receive their education thanks to the possibility of entering the National Upper Secondary School for Athletics (Senior High School Level).

RS arrange clinics in all disciplines and levels, and is open to everybody.

RS is also a residential college for adult education, people high school.

RS pursues scientific research, together with the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
